Woke Up Happy

Today was a welcome change to my usual morning mood - I woke up feeling great.

Normally, it’s takes me a good while to bring my happy thoughts online. Thinking positive does not come naturally to me; it is a skill I’ve had to develop. I stacked the deck in my favor today by putting myself to sleep early last night. I put myself in a good mood to sleep by nerding-out, watching some of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. I prefer ending my days with sci-fi or fantasy stories; really let’s my imagination go wild.

Once I realized I was awake, I noticed that I was happy. Then I decided to bolster that happiness with some good habits:

  • 50 push-ups

  • 20 minutes of meditation

  • 2 rounds of Wim Hof breathing

  • Trim my beard

  • Cold shower

  • Complete 2 CBT thought records

Now I’m writing this and I’m in a fantastic mood; I had an excellent breakfast and I’m looking forward to what today may bring. I have a physical later this morning, and then several group therapy classes throughout the day. My mission is to stay happy for as long as possible, and to see for how long I can maintain this good mood in the face of the vicissitudes of daily life.
