Rite of Passage

I straddled the line between boy and man for years, and then I never really knew when I finally assumed the mantle of manhood.

Physically Sick as a Depressive

January 26, 2019/ Gordon Corsetti
Physically Sick as a Depressive

Part of the disease of depression is shame and guilt. I can know, intellectually, that I will experience shame and guilt for staying in bed, but it is remarkably difficult to overcome the power of feeling with the power of logic.

How to Spend Finite Time Well

January 21, 2019/ Gordon Corsetti
How to Spend Finite Time Well

The study of philosophy, and writing about how to think better is part of my battle against the forces of my mind that would have me extinguish my life before my time is truly done.

Attack!

January 20, 2019/ Gordon Corsetti
Attack!

Mental illness is a mob within the mind. An entity ruled by emotion. It cannot be reasoned with. The mob must be broken, piece by piece, until the mass splits apart under the weight of it’s own irrationality.

Let There Be Light!

Let There Be Light!

I modify my environment so my mind is in an optimal state. I use less willpower in an environment tailored to my mental health; this gives me more willpower when I am in more challenging environments.

Gordon Corsetti Mental Agility Foundation

Life on the 7th Shelf is my way of sharing how a person can live well with depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation.

The 7th Shelf was written by Dante in The Inferno, as the Wood of the Suicides.

For me, living on the 7th shelf is challenging but I have found my means for winning the daily battle against the worst my mind can throw at me.
